The purposes of this tour are

• To address in the South West what is a nationwide problem of young, ‘underage’ bands no longer being able to get shows in licensed venues.
• To give select young bands the opportunity to experience being part of a tour, to interact with other bands from the region, to gain experience of the different aspects of live music and touring, to promote themselves via CD and merchandise sales, and to collect names for their mailing list.

A short film will be made of the tour which will be shown on the last day of South West Sound 07, Saturday 28th April, www.southwestsound.org.uk. The bands will be invited to talk about their experiences, and play a gig together on the Dartington Hall Estate in the evening. There is also the possibility of the tour appearing in Bristol on Wed 25th April as part of the SWS Live Fringe.

We will encourage the tour to be reported on by Music Week magazine. There will also be a chance for the tour bands to feature on the SWS Music Week or Venue magazine cd’s.

And finally..

The intention is very definitely for this just to be the start of such tours and networks between young bands to take place throughout the year across the whole of the South West. This could lead to ‘All Ages Clubs’ being established across the region. Long-term we would hope to give budding young promoters the opportunity to co-promote the shows, young managers to work with the bands, young record label entrepreneurs to be involved in releasing and marketing compilation cd’s of each tour etc.
