Objective 2 Bid
Devon County Council, as the lead body in the partnership with Dartington Plus and Beaford Arts, has received notification from Government Office South West that the Reach Out Arts Devon (ROAD) application has been successful. Posts will be advertised in September alongside joint publicity announcements from the partnership. We aim for all posts to be in place by January 2005, when the project itself will commence.
The three-year programme, to run from January 2005 to December 2007, will involve local artists of all disciplines through a programme of business support, seminars, projects with young people, arts markets and events in rural communities. The project will be funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with a grant of £574K, £323K of which is for Dartington Plus.

South West Music Industry Forum
This group met for the first time on 12 July in Exeter and meets again in October 2004 and January 31 2005. Dartington Plus has been asked by Culture South West to lead on the development of this forum, which follows on from a need recognised at the Symposium. The Forum's task is to demonstrate to SWERDA the economic value of the music industry in the region and to represent and publicise the sector. Project ideas generated from the Forum will be included in the Creative Industries Sector Development funding bid, currently being prepared by Culture South West, to submit to SWRDA. Matt Griffiths will chair the meetings and Adrian Bossey has been co-ordinating the group, which is currently in the process of finalising membership and working on terms of reference.
Regional Music Symposium 2005
This will take place week commencing April 25 2005, bigger and better than the first Symposium. In addition to convention sessions and discussions, our intention is to include more live music, workshops and relevant case studies making use of additional spaces at Dartington Hall and King Edward VI Community College.
Music in the Round 2
Following the great success of the first series, Music in the Round 2 will take place between October 2004 and April 2005 with a series of 7 concerts by leading national chamber groups.
Orchestras Live
A series of four concerts by national chamber orchestras, which includes an Orchestras Live association with the OAE residency.
The four are:
- 8 December: Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (+ morning children’s concert
- 16 January 2005: City of London Sinfonia
- 30 April 2005: Britten Sinfonia (part of the 2005 Regional Music Symposium)
- 12 May 2005: Birmingham Contemporary Music Group
Education activity will also take place as part of each visit
