Workshop & Concert Opportunity for Young String Players

For Violin, Viola, Cello & Double Bass players grade 2-4, aged 8 – 12 (approx) Sunday 22nd April, Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon, TQ9 6DE

This is a ‘first access’ workshop, delivered by the Carducci Quartet designed to give young string players with no or limited prior experience of playing in string ensembles, a taster of what it is like.

TIMETABLE

WORKSHOP: Arrival 9.45am (Great Hall, Dartington). Start 10am. Finish 12pm.
SHARING: 11.55pm (by participants for parents).
BREAK: 12pm – 3pm (Parents/carers are responsible for participants at this time).
CONCERT: 3pm – 4.50pm (with 20 minute interval). Participants must be accompanied by an adult.

COST

In order for participants to get the most from this experience it is important that they attend both the workshop AND the concert. Therefore we are offering this experience as a subsidised ticket deal, which includes a concert ticket for 1 accompanying adult and reduced price tickets for the rest of the family.

£12.50 concert and workshop ticket deal, which includes:
1 x workshop ticket & 1 x concert ticket for the participant, and 1 x accompanying adult concert ticket
Each additional child for concert & workshop ticket deal is £7.50
Each additional adult/child for concert (only) £5 (max 4 additional tickets)

CARDUCCI QUARTET

The Carducci String Quartet is recognised today as one of Europe’s top young string quartets. Half Irish, half British, they have won prizes at no less than six International Chamber Music Competitions, including 1st prize at the 2004 Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition in Finland, winners of the special prize for “Communication & Culture” at the 2005 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition and winners of the Jury prize at this year’s London International String Quartet Competition.

On Sunday the 22nd of April 2007 they are performing at 3pm in the Great Hall, Dartington
Haydn – String Quartet No. 6, Op.50
Ravel – String Quartet
David Matthews – String Quartet No.10
Beethoven – String Quartet No. 4, Op.18

VISITING DARTINGTON HALL

Dartington Hall Trust is situated on a beautiful estate where you can enjoy a walk in the gardens, or have a cup of tea and a slice of cake in the Roundhouse Café (12.00 – 8pm). At the White Hart (11.00am – 10.30pm) you can also enjoy a drink and a meal. Also, there are interesting shopping opportunities at the unique visitor centre Cider Press Centre (10.30am – 4.30pm) as well as in Totnes town centre.
