Stephen Jones, principal of King Edward VI Community College and Anne Ward, South Hams District Councillor, welcomed over one hundred arts practitioners to the launch of Devon Artsculture, at the Ariel Centre, Totnes on Monday 8th November.
Matt Griffiths, Development Director of Dartington Plus one of Artsculture’s three partner organisations - gave a presentation outlining the project. Matt explained how Artsculture can help arts practitioners & businesses based in South Hams, West Devon, North Devon & Torridge to develop their organisation and increase their earning potential. There were some great questions from the audience who representing many varied art forms.
The launch included a performance by Totnes-based performance poet Matt Harvey, who captivated the audience. Matt’s original blend of incisive wit was both entertaining and thought provoking.
The concept of this initiative has clearly resonated with the arts community and the evening was a great success; by the end of the evening over 75% of the audience had signed up for the Devon Artsculture project.
